On August 30, 2023, we announced plans to consolidate all direct commerce sales platforms into our flagship website MyFonts.com. Our legacy e-commerce platforms Linotype, FontShop, and Fonts.com will be retired over the coming months, and customers will be transitioned to MyFonts.com.

Why are the sites being retired

Retiring these sites allows us to focus on delivering the best online and in-app experience, aligned with modern technology and evolving customer needs.

MyFonts.com is being upgraded with a fully multilingual experience, including German, French, and Spanish. New features will make it easier for customers to find and license typefaces from the world’s best foundries.

When will the sites be retired

The retirement schedule is:

• FontShop.com: December 15, 2023
• Fonts.com: March 28, 2024
• Linotype.com: March 28, 2024
• Vendor Portal: March 28, 2024

How will this change affect my royalty payment schedule for sales concluded on legacy platforms?

• Foundries using the Vendor Portal to manage promotions or customer history on Fonts.com, FontShop.com, or Linotype.com must sign the latest agreement to continue distributing inventory on MyFonts and Monotype Fonts.
• All foundries will manage their business, promotions, and profiles through the Foundry Platform. Log in to Foundry Platform to see all the enhanced features.
• Foundries in the new Foundry Program gain access to an enhanced platform experience, educational resources, merchandising tools, and advanced earnings reports.
• Most importantly, your fonts will be available on Monotype Fonts and MyFonts, reaching more than 100 million customers.

If I currently use the Foundry Platform and the Vendor Portal, will my foundry information and inventory be merged?

Yes. Any fonts released through Monotype will appear in the Foundry Platform regardless of the original release platform. 
If you do not see your full library, reach out to us and we will ensure everything is visible.

Will my marketing materials and promotions migrate from the Vendor Portal?

No. The Vendor Portal only stores summaries of past promotions on Fonts.com, FontShop.com, and Linotype.com.

Once you sign the latest agreement, you can recreate and manage new promotions in the Foundry Platform.

When will legacy sites stop running promotions?

Promotions are no longer running on legacy sites.

Why aren’t my newly released fonts appearing on Fonts.com, FontShop.com, or Linotype.com?

We have stopped releasing new inventory to legacy platforms in preparation for their retirement.

• If your current distribution agreement includes MyFonts, our SEO team will redirect URLs from legacy sites to MyFonts.
• If your agreement is limited to legacy platforms, you will need to sign the latest agreement to continue distribution.

What happens to my foundry’s sales history and customer data stored in the Vendor Portal once the sites are retired?

All customer order history and data will be migrated to MyFonts.

Customers who choose not to migrate their data will lose access once the legacy site shuts down because we are required to delete it for data protection reasons.

How will this affect my royalty payments?

There will be no changes to the royalty payment schedule.

You can track all upcoming payments and payment history in the Foundry Platform.

You will continue receiving quarterly royalty statements covering sales on Fonts.com, FontShop.com, Linotype.com, and other Monotype channels. Statements arrive from royaltysupport@monotype.com and are available in both PDF and CSV formats.

As legacy sites phase out, they will also be removed from future reports, and your order history will remain accessible through the Foundry Platform.

Can I access my Vendor Portal information via the Foundry Platform without signing the new agreement?

Yes. However, we won’t be able to promote your foundry or distribute your fonts on MyFonts or Monotype Fonts unless you sign the latest agreement.

How and when are royalties paid under the new agreement?

What will happen to the sites after retirement?

We will work with key individuals connected to Linotype, FontShop, and Fonts.com to preserve and share their histories. 
The goal is to honor their contributions while transitioning them into the next chapter of the type industry’s story.

These brands remain an important part of typographic history, and Monotype will continue to celebrate and preserve their legacy.

What will happen to my foundry’s URLs after the sites are retired?

If you are on the latest agreement and your fonts are released to MyFonts, URLs for your foundry and family pages on legacy sites will redirect automatically to MyFonts.com.

If you manage your own website and link to legacy platforms, we recommend updating your links to point to MyFonts.

The related family feature is available to all foundry partners who have signed the latest agreement. Log in to Foundry Platform to view your agreement, sign the latest agreement, or sign up to work with Monotype.

About related families

Related families are families from your foundry that are all part of the same typeface design system. Adding related family tags helps customers find additional fonts and increases your foundry's visibility and are more appealing to customers when there are many variations of the font family. 

Potential customers can discover related families to popular typefaces which will improve their discovery experience and are more likely to purchase fonts from multiple families if they know how versatile the related family collection is.

Example: PF Bague families are considered related families.

Requirements for related families.

1. 🖋️ Sign the latest agreement.

   • Log in to Foundry Platform to view your agreement, sign the latest agreement, or sign up to work with Monotype.

2. 👯‍♂️ Minimum two (2) active released font families.

   • Related families must be associated with the same foundry.

3. ✅ Google Chrome browser.

   • This feature works best in Google Chrome browser. Enhancements for other browsers will be released soon.

How to add related families.

1. In the Foundry Platform, select Submissions from the main menu.
2. Select a family in Released Families.
3. Click Edit Submission.
4. Scroll to "Add description."
5. Enter family name in "Add Related Families" text field.
6. Add suggested related family options.
7. Review applied related family tags. Click "x" to remove unwanted tags.
8. Click Submit

Components of the Premium Foundry Page

Top Section

This section is the first thing a potential customer will see when they arrive on this page, so be sure to make a positive first impression. 

This section contains: 

• Background image sized at a 2:1 ratio in PNG or JPG format. (We recommend a minimum of 2600px x 1300px at a resolution of at least 150dpi in order to be compatible with retina screens.) Choose an image that is atmospheric and not too busy or too high-contrast.
   
• Foundry Logo image sized at 1000px wide x any height in PNG format with a transparent background. This looks best if your logo contains your foundry name, since your foundry name isn’t mentioned elsewhere above the fold. If you do not have a logo containing your foundry name or choose not to add a logo here, the fallback is your foundry name in the default MyFonts font. You could also type out your foundry name in one of your own fonts in white text, save it as a PNG image with a transparent background at least 1000px wide and this can be used here in place of a logo.
• Short description about your foundry. This should be different from the description in the bottom of the page. You may add links in your description, which will appear in blue text.
   
• Monotype Fonts badging. If your fonts are included in Monotype Fonts, this special badging will be applied to your page. ‘Monotype Fonts’ is our premium product for enterprise customers. This badging will encourage enterprise customers to explore your fonts on Monotype Fonts if they have a license (thus resulting in additional recurring revenue to you!) or consider licensing Monotype Fonts in the future (also resulting in more recurring revenue for you!).

Popular font families

This is a section of your best or latest fonts you want to show off to customers. Customers will be directed to the font family page by clicking the images or font name. You can choose 3-6 families to be highlighted in this section. 

Each block will contain: 

• The font name displayed in the default font style.
• A carousel of up to 15 images in 2:1 ratio (2000x1000px minimum at a resolution of at least 150dpi for retina compatibility in PNG or JPG format).
• A short family description. You may add links in your description, which will appear in blue text.

Three font family blocks are shown at a time. If you are highlighting more than three fonts, a blue button will appear below them that says “Load more” which will then load the next three font blocks on the page. 

Fonts in use

This gallery section is a great place to get creative and add lots of imagery about your fonts and foundry. We recommend a few different uses for this section. Mix and match the following to engage with your customers:

• Images of your fonts used in real world examples 
• Create mock-ups of example use cases with your fonts
• Sketches or screenshots of in-progress work 
• Images of yourself or your team in your studio
• Images of your fonts

Each image can have an optional short image title, displayed in white on the bottom left corner of each image. This section includes layouts of one, two, or three images per row. Images should be a minimum of 2600x1300 pixels at a resolution of at least 150dpi in PNG or JPG format in order to be compatible with retina screens. You can submit up to four rows of images, so mix and match the layouts to your liking.

Bottom Section

This section includes: 

• Background image sized at a 2:1 ratio in PNG or JPG format. (We recommend a minimum of 2600x1300px at a resolution of at least 150dpi in order to be compatible with retina screens.)
   
• Foundry logo sized at 1000px wide x any height in PNG format with a transparent background. If you have no logo or choose not to add a logo here, the fallback is your foundry name in the default MyFonts font. You could also type out your foundry name in one of your own fonts in black text, save it as a PNG image with a transparent background at least 1000px wide and this can be used here in place of a logo. This logo could be different than the logo at the top of the page. (i.e. a different variant, a shortened version of the logo, etc).
   
• Short description about your foundry. This should be different from the description in the top of the page. You may add links in your description, which will appear in blue text.
   
• Social media icons. Clicking these takes the customer to your social media pages.
   
• Meet the team section.
  • Profile photo (1000px at a resolution of at least 150dpi square in PNG or JPG format. We recommend converting the photo to black and white for a premium look.)
  • Title (For example: CEO of <Foundry Name>, Creative Director, Marketing Director, Type Designer, etc) 
  • First and Last name.
  • Short bio. You may add links in your bio which will appear in blue text.
     
• Monotype Fonts badging. If your fonts are included in Monotype Fonts, this special badging will be applied to your page. ‘Monotype Fonts’ is our premium product for Enterprise customers. This badging will encourage Enterprise customers to explore your fonts on Monotype Fonts if they have a license (thus resulting in additional recurring revenue to you!) or consider using Monotype Fonts in the future (also resulting in more recurring revenue for you!)

1. Your foundry must be on the latest distribution agreement.

   It is important for customers to have full licensing options for your fonts. Therefore, only foundries on our latest distribution agreement which allows us to sell your fonts to customers in the most up-to-date ways are eligible for this page. Check to see if your agreement is up to date here and upgrade your agreement with a few quick clicks!
   
    

2. Your foundry must be active.

   This means you are regularly creating and releasing new fonts, updating your images, participating in promotions, have active social media presence, and/or are active in the type and design community.
   
    

3. You must have compelling images.

   We regularly preach the importance of images, and we can’t stress it enough. Marketing images are one of the most important components of your font release. Exceptional images will cause mediocre fonts to sell well, and poor images will prevent even the best of fonts from resonating with customers. 4. Your foundry must have a strong brand.

This page is for foundries whose names would be recognized by customers and have a proven track record of making great fonts that customers love.

How do I request getting this page for my foundry?

This page is currently invitation-only and being tested with a handful of premium foundries. We are not taking requests at this time. If your foundry meets the requirements above, you can expect to be contacted by us about this page once the test phase is over.

Hot New Fonts is a popular page on MyFonts.com that highlights the top-selling fonts released within the past 50 days.

How are fonts selected for Hot New Fonts

Fonts appear on this page automatically based on revenue. 
This page is not curated by staff. It is fully automated.

The top 50 font families released within the past 50 days are listed, sorted from highest revenue to lowest.

How does my font become eligible for inclusion in Hot New Fonts

A font can appear on this page if:

• It was released within the past 50 days
• It includes at least five images

Updating font files for an older family will not make it eligible. Only brand-new families can appear in Hot New Fonts.

How can I increase my chances of appearing on Hot New Fonts

Compelling images, appropriate pricing, and high-quality font designs that resonate with customers are essential for a successful release.

The Best Sellers page displays the top 50 font families ranked by total revenue earned during the previous month. Fonts on this page can be new or old, and are ordered from the highest revenue to the lowest.

How does my font become eligible for inclusion in Best Sellers

Any font with at least five images is eligible to appear on the Best Sellers page.

How can I improve my chances of appearing on Best Sellers

Compelling images, appropriate pricing, and professional font designs that resonate with customers are essential. 
Fonts that make it to the Best Sellers page are often iconic designs known widely and used by many brands.

Most fonts featured here are several years old and have strong, consistent sales performance. Building toward this is a great long-term goal.

How are fonts selected for What's New

Fonts appear on the What's New page automatically based on their release date. 
This page is not curated by staff. It is completely automated.

The page is paginated. Users first see the 50 most recently released fonts and can click to view more. 
This page is not sorted by revenue.

How does my font become eligible for inclusion in What's New

Any new font with at least five images will appear on the What's New page. 
The Foundry Team reviews and releases approximately 30 to 50 new fonts per day, at least four days per week.

What is Special Offers

Special Offers is a popular page on MyFonts.com that displays fonts with an active promotion or discount.

How are fonts selected for Special Offers

Fonts appear on the Special Offers page automatically when they have an active discount. 
This page is not curated by staff. It is entirely automated.

By default, the page shows promotions that are ending soonest. 
It is not sorted by revenue.

How does my font become eligible for inclusion in Special Offers

Any new font with an active discount will appear on the Special Offers page as long as:

• The promotion includes a promotion image
• The promotion does not use a Secret Code

Font bundles are a special product category on MyFonts comprised of fonts from different families in the same foundry. They are a way to use your existing library to reach customers in a compelling new way.

To sell a bundle on MyFonts, please submit a bundle through your tools in the Foundry Platform.

FAQ

What works best?

We've seen that bundles comprised of 35-50 fonts priced at $49, $99, or $199 work well. Good imagery is key to a successful bundle. Bundles without compelling imagery do not perform well. At a minimum, bundles must contain font styles from two different font families, however, we recommend including many more than this. 

Can the order of the fonts listed on my bundle's page be changed?

Currently, fonts display in the order of addition. Future updates are anticipated to provide more flexible ordering options. 

Where are bundles located?

We sell font bundles on the Bundles page on MyFonts. Additionally, bundles are displayed in the middle slot of the rotating carousel on the home page of MyFonts.com. The bundles rotate in and out of these slots at random.

What if I can't publish my bundle? 

Verify that all critical fields are completed. Red warning indicators will highlight specific areas requiring attention. 

Can I edit a bundle after publishing? 

Description updates and deactivation are permitted. However, font selection and pricing cannot be modified post-publication.

What are Experts Choice fonts

Experts Choice fonts are designs that have been evaluated for quality and completeness. These fonts come from reputable foundries, include large character sets, offer additional typographic features, and are supported by compelling marketing images.

Where do customers see Experts Choice fonts

Experts Choice fonts appear in a randomized rotation within the left block of the homepage carousel on MyFonts.

How do Staff Picks work

Staff Picks are selected based on the styles and trends resonating with customers. The selection includes a mix of fonts from both large and small foundries and may feature fonts that are new as well as established classics.

Staff Picks appear in a randomized list located in the bottom center area of the MyFonts homepage.
