On August 30, 2023, we announced plans to consolidate our direct commerce sales platforms around its flagship e-commerce site MyFonts.com. Our e-commerce sales platforms Linotype, FontShop, and Fonts.com will be phased out over the next year and customers will be transitioned to MyFonts.com.
If you're a foundry that's been with us a while, but you're not on the latest agreement 🙀
Aw no! Older agreements only allow us to release your fonts to legacy platforms and MyFonts. Read more about our latest agreement and feel free to email us if you have any questions!
Why are the sites being retired?
Retiring these sites will allow us to focus on delivering the very best online and in-app experience, in-line with the latest technological advancements and leading the way for the future of type use in the industry.
We will be upgrading our flagship e-commerce platform, MyFonts.com, to deliver a complete multilingual experience—with German, French, and Spanish functionality launching this year—and adding innovative features that will make it easier and more efficient for customers to find and purchase the typefaces they love from the world’s best type foundries.
When will the sites be retired?
Sites will be retired in phases over the coming months. The expected timeline is:
- Fontshop.com: December 15, 2023
- Fonts.com: March 28, 2024
- Linotype.com: March 28, 2024
- Vendor Portal: March 28, 2024
How will this impact customers?
Please read MyFonts Customer FAQ for details.
How will this impact my foundry?
Foundries only using the Vendor Portal to run promotions and manage customer history for fonts sold on Fontshop.com, Linotype.com, or Fonts.com will need to sign the latest agreement to continue distributing their inventory through MyFonts and Monotype Fonts.
Foundry partners will be able to manage their business profiles and promotional marketing efforts on one convenient site – the Foundry Platform. Log in to Foundry Platform to see all the enhanced features.
Foundries who sign up for our new Foundry Program will also unlock an enhanced Foundry Platform experience with insightful educational resources, helpful merchandising tools, and powerful earnings reports. Most importantly, your fonts will be available on Monotype Fonts and MyFonts – reaching 100 million+ potential customers.
If I currently use the Foundry Platform and the Vendor Portal, will my foundry information and inventory be merged?
Any fonts you have released through Monotype will be visible on the Foundry Platform, regardless of where they were previously released. If you don't see your fonts in the Foundry Platform, please reach out and we’ll make sure they’re visible to you!
Will my marketing material and promotions be migrated from the Vendor Portal to the new Foundry Platform?
No. The Vendor Portal only contains a summary of past promotions that were listed on Fonts.com, Fontshop.com, and Linotype.com.
Once your foundry is under the new agreement, you can recreate and manage promotions in the new Foundry Platform.

When will legacy e-commerce sites stop running promotions?
Promotions are no longer running on legacy sites.
I released new fonts in the Foundry Platform but they are not available on fonts.com, fontshop.com, or linotype.com. Why?
To prepare for the sites sunsetting, we have stopped releasing new inventory to legacy sites.
If your current distribution agreement allows for distribution on MyFonts, our SEO team will be redirecting existing URLs for your foundry and family pages to MyFonts.
If your current distribution agreement is limited to the legacy sites, you will need to sign the new agreement to continue distributing your fonts on Monotype platforms. Read more about our latest agreement and feel free to email us if you have any questions!

What happens to my foundry’s sales history and customer data stored in my Vendor Portal once the sites are retired?
Your customers’ entire order history and data will be migrated to - and be accessible on - MyFonts.
If a customer chooses to opt-out of having this data migrated to MyFonts, they will lose access to their order history and data once the site is permanently retired. We are obliged to delete all this data for data protection reasons.
How will this change affect my royalty payment schedule for sales concluded on legacy platforms?
There will be no impact on royalty payment schedules. You can view your upcoming payments and payment history on the Foundry Platform.
Every quarter, you’ll receive a royalty statement for all sales concluded on Fonts.com, Fontshop.com, Linotype.com, and any other sales from Monotype sources. This statement, available in both PDF and CSV formats, will come from royaltysupport@monotype.com.
As the sites are phased out, they will also be phased out of your quarterly royalty reports. You will still have access to your order history from the legacy sites on the Foundry Platform.

Can I access my Vendor Portal account information via the Foundry Platform without signing the latest agreement?

What will happen to the sites after they are retired?
Over the coming months, we will be working closely with key individuals from Linotype, FontShop, and Fonts.com’s history to create and host content that carries their type stories onto the next step of the brands’ journey; celebrating their past, honoring them in the present, and preserving their legacy for future generations.
We take our pledge to act as custodians of type seriously, and we are committed to working with key industry figures to find the right way to do this for these historic foundries as we move ahead. While technology may change, the brands and foundries will remain a valued and integral part of the rich tapestry of the story of type and Monotype will always be their home.
What will happen to my foundry’s URLs after the sites are retired?
If your foundry is on the latest agreement and your fonts are released to MyFonts, your URLs for foundry and font family pages on the legacy sites will be redirected to your fonts on MyFonts.com.
If you are managing your own foundry site and linking to fonts.com, fontshop.com, or linotype.com, for example by using our affiliate program, we recommend updating these links to point to MyFonts.
