Monotype is dedicated to maintaining a safe, respectful, and ethical environment for all our Foundry Partners and customers. Our new ‘word checker’ ensures compliance with our policies by preventing inappropriate content related to hate, discrimination, and more.
Discover What’s Inside
Our goal is to assist you in keeping your content ethically sound by encouraging respectful and appropriate language.
At Monotype, we strive to create a safe and ethical environment for all users. This article will explain our new sensitive content & banned words policy, designed to ensure all content from our Foundry Partners is compliant and respectful.
Our platform scans all text content for sensitive and banned words. If found, you’ll see error messages, and the submission will be blocked until the issue is resolved.
Sensitive and banned words fall into two categories
1. Banned Words: Prevent submission entirely.

2. Sensitive Words: Trigger a warning but allow submission to proceed.
Prohibited words will be highlighted in red with a strikethrough, while sensitive words will be displayed below the text area in orange. Please note that these warning messages will appear once you click outside the text box.
When you correct a flagged word, a success message will appear in green.
How it works
- Enter your content into the Foundry Platform as usual.
- Content Monitoring: The system automatically checks for banned words.
- Error Message: If a blocked word is found, you’ll receive an error message and must correct the content.
- Warning Message: If a sensitive word is detected, you’ll get a cautionary message but can proceed with submission.
- Success Notification: Once flagged words are corrected, you’ll see a success message!
Benefits
- Enhanced Content Safety: Ensures all published content is appropriate and not harmful.
- Improved Trust: Builds confidence with customers and users browsing your fonts.
Additional Information
- Blocked Words: Must be corrected before saving.
- Sensitive Words: Advises changes but allows continuation.
