Your agreement with Monotype determines how you access and use the Foundry Platform.
Whether your agreement is active, approaching its end date, or has already ended, this article explains what you can expect, what actions are available, and how you can continue or return to the Foundry Program.
Agreement status
Your foundry will be in one of the three agreement states.
Active
Your agreement is active, and you can continue using the Foundry Platform according to your assigned permissions.
Agreement ending soon
If your agreement has a scheduled termination date, you'll see a notification after signing in.
The notification includes:
- The number of days remaining before your agreement ends.
- Foundry Support contact information.
- A link for your Foundry Admin to review and sign our latest distribution agreement.
During this period, your agreement remains active, and you can continue using the platform according to your assigned role.
If you'd like to continue participating in the Foundry Program, your Foundry Admin can review and sign our latest distribution agreement before your current agreement expires. Signing before the termination date helps reduce disruption to your participation.
Agreement ended
Once your agreement reaches its termination date, your foundry moves into an inactive state.
Your account is not deleted.
Instead, your account and important information are preserved while access to certain platform features becomes limited. This allows you to understand your agreement status and provides a clear path to return to the Foundry Program whenever you're ready.
What happens after my agreement ends?
After your agreement ends:
- Your account remains available.
- Most management features become unavailable.
- Some information remains accessible depending on your role.
- Foundry Admins can begin the process of returning to the Foundry Program by signing our latest distribution agreement.
Access by user role
Foundry Admin
Foundry Admins can continue to access functions related to managing their foundry's relationship with Monotype.
Depending on your agreement status, you may be able to:
- View your agreement status.
- Contact Foundry Support.
- Review and sign our latest distribution agreement.
- View available earnings information.
- Manage payment information, where available.
- Begin the process of returning to the Foundry Program.
As your agreement status changes, some areas of the Foundry Platform become read-only or unavailable until a new agreement is in place.
Other foundry users
If you aren't a Foundry Admin, your experience is more limited.
- You can't sign agreements.
- You can't manage payment information.
- You can't begin the reactivation process.
If your agreement is ending soon or has already ended, you may see a message directing you to contact your Foundry Admin.

What happens to my fonts and inventory?
When your agreement ends, your font inventory is managed according to Monotype's post-termination inventory process.
While your foundry is inactive, you won't be able to:
- Add new font families.
- Upload new fonts.
- Edit existing font information.
- Update your inventory.
- Submit new content through the Foundry Platform.
If you decide to return to the Foundry Program, eligible font families can be reactivated after your Foundry Admin signs our latest distribution agreement and completes the reactivation process.
What happens to my payments and earnings?
If payments are still owed under the terms of your agreement, they'll continue to be processed according to your contractual terms.
Where payment management remains available, Foundry Admins can continue managing payment information to help ensure future payments are processed successfully.
Available earnings information may continue to be accessible based on your agreement status and account permissions.

Signing a new agreement
Your agreements remain an important part of managing your relationship with Monotype.
Only a Foundry Admin can review and sign agreements on behalf of a foundry.
- If your agreement is ending soon, your Foundry Admin can review and sign our latest distribution agreement before your current agreement expires.
- If your agreement has already ended, your Foundry Admin can still sign our latest distribution agreement to begin returning to the Foundry Program.
Frequently asked questions
Will my account be deleted?
No.
Your account isn't immediately removed after your agreement ends. Instead, your foundry moves into an inactive experience that preserves your account while limiting access to platform features.
Can I still use the Foundry Platform?
Yes.
Your available features depend on both your assigned role and your agreement status.
Can I continue working with Monotype before my agreement ends?
Yes.
Your Foundry Admin can review and sign our latest distribution agreement before the termination date to help reduce disruption to your participation in the Foundry Program.
What happens to my fonts?
Your inventory is managed according to Monotype's post-termination inventory process.
While inactive, you won't be able to upload new fonts or update your existing inventory.
If you return to the Foundry Program, eligible font families can be reactivated.
Will I still receive royalty payments?
If royalty payments are still owed under your agreement, they'll continue to be processed according to your contractual terms.
Can I update my payment information?
Where payment management remains available, Foundry Admins can continue updating payment information.
If you're not a Foundry Admin, you'll need to contact your administrator.
Who can sign a new agreement?
Only a Foundry Admin can review and sign agreements on behalf of a foundry.
I'm not a Foundry Admin. What should I do?
Please contact your Foundry Admin if you have questions about your agreement or would like to continue or return to the Foundry Program.
If you don't know who your Foundry Admin is, contact Foundry Support.
Can I return later?
Yes.
When you're ready, your Foundry Admin can sign our latest distribution agreement and complete the reactivation process for eligible font families.
