No one likes the feeling of not getting paid! If you’re wondering where your money from us is, don’t worry! We’ll outline the most common reasons below. If you still have questions, we’re always here to help. Just email royaltysupport@monotype.com.

 

Note: Licensors (designers who have licensed fonts to one of the Monotype-owned foundry brands, sometimes referred to as libraries) as yet cannot log in to the Foundry Platform. However, we are working on it!

Your revenues don’t meet the monthly minimum payment amount.

For each payment method, there is a different minimum payment amount. (Read more about those here.) You can also increase the minimum payment amount to your liking in order to be paid less frequently if you are looking to avoid transfer fees. 

This means that if your revenues don’t meet this minimum, they will be held until the next month's payment. Once the sum of your revenues exceeds the minimum payment amount for your selected payment method, then they will be transferred to you at the next round of payments that go out.

Your revenue isn’t scheduled to be sent yet. 

Payments are made every 30 days, around the 15th of each month. We calculate monthly payments based on revenues for each month, and then those revenues are sent 45 days later. This means that, for example, royalties for September would be sent to you on November 15. If you have many months of revenues accumulating because you don't meet the minimum, and your revenues for September make it so that you exceed the minimum, you are going to be paid the total amount at the time the payment would go out for September revenue - November 15. Bank schedules, holidays, or internal company accounting.

We typically send payments every 30 days, so foundries are used to this. Occasionally, due to bank schedules, internal company accounting, or holidays, we have to wait to send payments up to 45 days after the month, in accordance with your agreement. The payment term in most distribution agreements is 45 days. 

We’ve sent the payment, but your bank is still processing it.

Depending on your bank, payment method, and country of residence, payments can take 24 - 48 business hours to appear in your account. Be patient and check back in!

You haven’t set up a payment method yet.

In order to pay you, we need to know where to send the money! Be sure that you’ve set up a payment method for your foundry in the Foundry Platform payments tool. 

Your payment information may have an issue.

Please log in to Foundry Platform to check your payment details. If your account card is red, this means your payments are on hold because there is an issue with the details you submitted for your payment account. Please log in and update your information!

Overview

Earnings from orders on MyFonts are paid monthly. 

Earnings from orders on all other Monotype channels — such as other e-commerce platforms, and offline orders —  are paid quarterly.  

You can see the estimated date of each payment in the Payments Dashboard of the Foundry Platform. If you have an upcoming payment, you’ll see a row in the table with the estimated date and amount for a particular payment. We cannot send payments on demand outside of the stated payment schedule.

MyFonts

Earnings are calculated monthly and paid monthly around the middle of the month. You can expect to be paid within 45 days after the last day of the month, provided you meet the minimum amount associated with your selected payment method. 

Monotype Fonts

Foundries who sign up for our new Foundry Program will unlock an enhanced Foundry Platform experience with insightful educational resources, helpful merchandising tools, and powerful earnings reports. Most importantly, your fonts will be available on Monotype Fonts and MyFonts – reaching 100 million+ potential customers.

Other Monotype Channels

Earnings from sales on e-commerce platforms other than MyFonts, or Monotype offline sales channels are paid quarterly. You’ll receive a PDF royalty statement and CSV file of all orders for the quarter in an email from royaltysupport@monotype.com.

Legacy E-commerce Site Changes.

In past years we consolidated our direct commerce sales platforms around its flagship e-commerce site MyFonts.com. Our e-commerce sales platforms Linotype, FontShop, and Fonts.com were phased out. However, you still have access to your order history from the legacy sites on Foundry Platform.

When you select a payment method, you'll see a minimum payment amount for each method. This means that the revenue in your account must meet this minimum before we can transfer it to you. You can increase these minimums if you choose to be paid less frequently, for example to reduce bank fees or transfer fees. 

Please note that you must meet the minimum payment amount for your selected payment method to be paid on schedule. If you don’t meet the minimum, your payment will be held in our system until you meet the minimum. Once the sum of your held payments meets the minimum required amount, then your payment will be issued at the scheduled pay date for the month in which you meet the minimum.

For example, if you meet the minimum required amount on August 2, you’ll get paid on the scheduled pay date for August (October 15).

Minimums for each payment method

You can select how you’d like to be paid. Select from the payment options outlined below. 

Direct Deposit

• US Bank accounts only
• Minimum payment: $25
• No fees

PayPal

• Minimum payment: $25
• No fees

Wire Transfer

• Minimum payment: $200
• We do not charge you a fee to be paid via wire transfer, but please keep in mind that your bank may charge you a fee to receive a wire transfer.

If any monthly payment does not reach the minimum payment threshold for payment method, we will hold the payment and add it onto the next month. As soon as your accumulated payments have reached the minimum, you will be paid the full amount at the next payment cycle.

Here are step-by-step instructions for setting up a payment method for your foundry.

1. Log in to Foundry Platform.
2. Click “Payments” in the top menu.
3. Click “Accounts” in the left menu.
4. Choose the card for the foundry you wish to set up. Keep in mind any cards that are grey are still being set up by our team and will soon turn blue and become editable.
5. Fill out all necessary information in a simple three-step process. Please double-check your information before submitting. If there is an issue, you’ll see an error when you click “submit”.
