Monotype Fonts (formerly known as Mosaic) has a feature allowing the upload of third party fonts. We added this feature because customers requested this functionality to be able to use the platform as a font management tool. This allows the customers to more easily comply with their font EULAs and deploy fonts within their organization in a controlled and organized way.
How does it work?
On the Monotype Fonts platform, a customer with admin privileges uploads a font to their account. At this time, the font is only accessible in their own account, and of course the font is not made available to all Monotype Fonts users. Then, they set the access rights for a particular font in their account. Since a user needs to be assigned access to a font in order to download and use the font file, the customer can ensure that only the employees that are meant to be able to use the licensed rights have access to the font.
We explicitly inform the customer that they can only upload third party fonts to Monotype Fonts if the EULA allows such upload and it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure compliance with the terms under which they license the uploaded font software.
